Get Wilderness First Aid Certified!
Presented by the NCAC Camps, the Outdoor Preparedness Initiative (OPI) offers Wilderness First Aid certification with CPR/AED. OPI aims to prepare Scouts, Scouters, and outdoor enthusiasts for high adventure activities and other outdoor adventures. Certification is provided through the American Red Cross. Courses are offered at Camp Snyder in Haymarket, VA in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.
When attending national and local high adventure bases, at least one member of the crew needs to be certified in Wilderness First Aid. Please check out the information for the high adventure base you are attending to learn more about their specific requirements.
Participant Requirements
Participants must be at least 14 years old.

CPR/AED certification is provided during this course for all participants.
Refunds & Cancellations
- Transfers to another course date are available at no additional fee.
- Prior to 2 weeks before the course, there is a refund processing fee of 15%.
- After 2 weeks before the course begins, there is a course cancellation fee of 50%.
Course Details – Camp Snyder
This 2 day course will offer day only instruction Saturday from 0730 – 2000 and Sunday from 0730 – 1600. Class size is strictly limited to 20 participants. There will not be an overnight stay involved. Participants who wish to stay on property should coordinate in advance with the camp office. Participants should bring their own lunch / snacks.
Get your Certificates
Certificates for CPR and WFA can be obtained from the Red Cross website.
- Go to redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate
- Search for the certificate by one of the following:
- By Email Address
- Enter the email address that was used at the time of training
- Click on “Find”
- By Name and Date
- Enter the following
- “First Name”
- “Last Name”
- Select the year the class was concluded from the dropdown
- “Month” – optional
- Click on “Find”
- Enter the following
- By Certificate ID
- Enter the “Certificate ID Number” that was listed on your original certificate or wallet card
- Click on “Find”
- By Email Address
- For found certificates:
- Click on the box to the left of the correct certificate
- Click on the button next to “Wallet” or “11×8.5”
- Click on “View/Print” or “Download”
- If printing:
- In new window that opens, click “Print”
- Follow specific instructions for your printer
- If Downloading:
- In the new window that opens, select one of the following:
- “Open with” – select the program used to open the pdf file
- “Save file” – save a pdf of the certificate for your records or to print later
